Summer 2021 at the Moot Hall

This summer’s season of organ recitals in the Moot Hall will begin with Ian Ray (Hon. Borough Organist) at 1pm on Tuesday 13 July. The programme will contain music by Guilmant, Howells and the J.S. Bach Prelude and Fugue in E flat major which includes the St Anne fugue subject sung in the UK to “Our God, our help in ages past”.

No advance booking required from 10 August recital onwards. Free entry, with retiring collection. Future recitals include:

10 August 2021, 1 pm: Organ recital by Stephen King (Brentwood Cathedral)

Programme includes works by Handel, Saint-Saëns, Ibert, Walford Davies and Hollins.

12 September 2021, 12 midday: Meet and Play the Moot Hall Organ on Heritage Open Day

A chance for members of the public to come and play the Moot Hall Organ, hosted by Hon Borough Organist Ian Ray.

14 September 2021, 1 pm: Organ recital by Gillian Ward-Russell – ‘Best Foot Forward’

A programme of organ music with busy feet (and hands), by composers including Dieterich Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Noel Rawsthorne and Charles-Marie Widor.
