1pm Tuesday 5th January 2016 ‘Happy New Year’, with Ian Ray
Honorary Borough Organist Ian Ray gives a joyous welcome to 2016 with Bach’s great G major Fantasy BWV 572 and some of Louis Vierne’s shorter pieces. The programme will feature a central interlude of music on the new Moot Hall piano generously presented to the town by Councillor Nick Cope including the first movement of Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight’ sonata, a Chopin Polonaise and Debussy’s popular poetic ‘Clair de lune’.
1pm Tuesday 2nd February 2016 ‘Bells, Stars, Kings & a Ride in the Snow’, with John Cooper
John Cooper, Organist Emeritus of St Mary-le-Tower, Ipswich presents a seasonal recital based round the theme of Bells and Epiphany including Buxtehude’s wonderful chorale prelude on ‘How brightly shines the evening star’, Leroy Anderson’s popular ‘Sleigh Ride’ and SS Wesley’s much loved ‘Holsworthy Church Bells’.
1pm Tuesday 1st March 2016 ‘Organic Entertainment’, with Colin Nicholson
Colin Nicholson, St Botolph’s, Colchester’s distinguished senior organist, who has been at the heart of the musical life of the town for over half a century, plays a delightfully varied recital of pieces including the tuneful Trumpet Tune by William Boyce, the much loved Echo Fantasia by Sweelinck, Buxtehude’s Fugue in Jig style ending with Rinck’s Variations on a melody you will all know levitra 10mg tablets.
