After careful consideration and much discussion, adjudicators Alexander Campkin, Duncan Chapman and Soosan Lolavar have chosen a shortlist of five pieces from the seventeen submissions received.
The standard was very high and the judges were delighted to see such high-calibre compositions. The first and second prize winners will be announced, and prizes presented, at the Moot Hall Gala Concert on Thursday 21 May.
The Call for Scores invited submissions of new, contemporary and innovative compositions which must be original and previously unperformed.
The anonymous entries were scored against the following criteria: originality, character, musical coherence, conciseness of texture and narrative, and organ-related considerations of performability, how idiomatic the writing is, practicality and suitability for the Moot Hall Organ.
